Developing A Level Pedagogy

Summary

The project, developed and provided in partnership with the AMSP (Advanced Mathematics Support Programme), will explore aspects of A level Maths, giving teachers knowledge of pedagogic theory and providing support for effective development of pedagogy in the teaching of A level Maths to enhance the quality of teaching and the conceptual understanding of students, and the development of participants as leaders of A level teaching professional development in their own school or college. 

Time Commitment: equivalent of 15 hours - 4 days

Suitable for: Post-16

Core Maths Teachers Specialist Knowledge for Teaching Mathematics

Summary

The purpose of this programme is to support teachers across London, who are new to teaching Core Maths, in developing specialist knowledge for teaching Core Maths and to increase their confidence in teaching the course. This programme is for teachers in their first 2 years of teaching the qualification. 

Time Commitment: 3 full days

Suitable for: Post-16

This Work Group is with the London Central and West Maths Hub.

Post - 16 Research and Innovation 

Summary

These sessions will concentrate on tasks that help students to develop a deeper understanding of the concepts required. In the sessions we would develop a series of activities to be used in the booster sessions run at your school. This programme is for teachers of A-Level Maths in secondary school or post-16 college.

Time Commitment: Five 2-hour twilight sessions in the year 

Suitable for: Post-16

Core Maths Pedagogy

Summary

This group will focus on promoting recall with Core Maths students, differentiating for & engaging mixed ability groups. For experienced teachers of Core Maths.

Time Commitment: 3 days split into 4 half days and an online twilight

Suitable for: This group is for experienced teachers of Core Maths (2+ years) or who have already done the NTTCM programme
